Project Description
Kate’s comments on an early draft of my recently published picture book led to more improvement in the text than the comments of all my other editors combined, and her help has been essential to my current writing project, a novel set in the 17th century and told through the diary entries of one character, the prayers of another, and the letters of a third. Because of the historical setting and the use of three voices and modes, it’s not enough that the writing be good in the general ways that writing can be good. Each thread of the narrative also needs to be stylistically precise, and that’s where Kate’s expertise has been especially valuable to me. I’m not sure I ever want to write a book again without Kate looking over my shoulder!
